Today is just one of those head scratching days when it comes to T1D. Jake’s blood sugar started going up overnight after being consistently low most of last night. I set alarms and checked him 4 times in the middle of the night and had to wake him up once to have him give himself some insulin (his sugar was 340 at the time). Then of course the ketones started. His sugar finally started to come down, got as low as 288 and now it’s on an upward swing again (320) despite all of the extra insulin he’s gotten.
He says he has a scratchy throat so he could be coming down with something but it’s frustrating to say the least and I hate when he’s not feeling well. T1D seems to have a mind of its own at times and for someone like me who likes to be in control of things, there are days when I feel like it’s a constant uphill battle.
